Seeking Peace and Pursuing It…

LAKE WALES, FL
I am an AU grad (1998, History Major), and currently serve as Assistant Registrar at Warner Southern College. I recently earned my Master's in Library and Information Studies at Florida State University. I hope to continue my graduate studies in Peacemaking and Nonviolent Conflict Resolution.

I heard about the Peace Fellowship from my parents, Terry and Linda Fasel, and from Dr. Jim and Connie Christoph. I am excited about networking with bridge builders and peacemakers here and in the COG PF.

After reading every page of the Spring Newsletter, I wonder what I can do to help God's work of peacemaking. Should I march and carry protest signs, and plaster my car with stickers? It's great to be in touch with others who feel that peace is possible. Thanks for the inspiring material. I will keep you in my prayers.

My huband Beverly and I have been pacifists all our lives. He died four years ago after pastoring for 30 years. During his last seven years he worked at AU where he did a lot of informal counseling.

During the Vietnam War our son Duane did alternative service through the Church of the Brethren. He worked with Cesar Chavez in California.

The Peace Fellowship is a great cause. May God continue to bless all of our endeavors.

It was good to see the nice article about Sara Cook in a recent PF Newsletter. We have had a special interest in Sara for several years. We admired her work as director of the New Horizon Maternity Home, and thank God for her positive peacemaking spirit and efforts with Brethren Volunteers in Northern Ireland.

Here's our membership fee plus a gift for the AU PEACEMAKING FUND in memory of my grandfather, Rev. Gordon Morrison, Dr. John Morrison's youngest brother. After graduating from the Anderson Bible Training School in 1922, he pastored in Denver, Olathe, Greeley, Delta, and Grand Junction, Colorado; and in Tacoma, WA. He died in Council Grove, KS in 1955.

I completed my Ph.D. and now I am the director of Riverview Counseling and Wellness Center. Sally is completing a graduate degree in Elementary Education.

We are excited about Holy Land, Whose Land?, a new book by Dorothy Drummond, and would like to recommend it to Newsletter readers.

I really liked "Psychology of Warfare" by John M. Drescher [Winter Newsletter}.. It is possible to look back over recent months and see how prop-aganda has built the case for war along the very lines mentioned in the article. In my 69 years I have seen several wars. "A Tour of the West Bank" by Ken Sehested was good, too.

How did I get all the way through Anderson College without hearing about the Peace Fellowship? Is it a big dark secret?

Growing up in Wichita, KS without a car we went to the closest church. I remember the Friends Church and First Church of God. Both opposed war.

I'd like to have more information on why Israel gets away with breaking 36 UN resolutions.
